I recently registered with BlogTalkRadio to host a show online on college life topics. For the new Higher Ed Life Coach talk show, I am seeking guests for a variety of college life topics, including: Helicopter Parents and the People Who Deal with Them! Social Media and College and Discipline Issues and Parental Involvement. If you are interested in being a guest, or can recommend someone who might be a good guest for one or more of these topics, please e-mail me at sean@higheredlifecoach.com or send me a direct tweet to hghredlifecoach on Twitter.
Development of emotional autonomy involves a gradual decrease in the need for approval and reassurance of others, toward independence and self regulation. Recognition of interdependence follows from independence as the student finds a middle ground between being one’s own person and slavish conformity.
How can parents support this natural development? How can college students assert autonomy and move toward interdependence?
