I’m following some sage advice from blogging guru Chris Brogan, and doing my Follow Friday posts on my blogs. Last week, I posted to HigherEdCareerCoach, and this week, I am gearing it more toward college students and parents, so I am posting it here.
Landmark Leadership is a blog created by some of the remarkable students and young professionals that participate in the Student Affairs community on Twitter (#sachat). Writers post perspectives on college life, leadership and working in student affairs. Today’s post on Graduation by Jenna Peterson-Magnuski will resonate with many.(@landmarkleaders on Twitter)
Shannon Ritter’s blog on posterous, currently titled “Insanely Delicious Strawberry Jam” is an entertaining and sometimes inspirational read. Shannon works at Penn State as a social networks adviser with their World Campus, where my better half, Sarah Andrews Cook, used to work. She seems to know a lot of people I know, but I can’t recall if I ever actually met her. Her blog is brilliant, simple and inspiring. I especially dig “Today’s Note from the Universe” and would love to see her compile these into a book someday. I would totally buy it. Hell, I might even be willing to publish it. It’s good stuff. Exile Lifestyle is written by Colin Wright and documents his travels and the people he meets. Colin bills himself as a “location independent sustainable designer and lifehacker,” and his site is just fascinating. If you go there now, you can also download two of his e-books, Personal Branding and How to Be Remarkable for free. He also has a new book, Network Awesomely, but you would have to pay for that. Jeffrey Tang’s the Art of Great Things is, well…just about that. The blog’s tagline says it well: “Better ways to live, work and change the world.” (@jeffreytang on Twitter)
And a little plug here for my friend and fellow Life Purpose Coach Monica Moody. She was my coaching buddy for the Life Purpose Institute’s coach certification program. She’s a dynamic and powerful woman, committed to helping others, especially women, to discover their higher purpose and put it into action in their lives and careers. She is going to be co-hosting a new segment of my Higher Ed Life and Careers Show on BlogTalkRadio, starting today at noon EST. We’ll be talking about Accidents, Purpose, Job Searching and Twitter. Please listen in and call in with your questions and comments on putting passion, purpose and presence into your life and career. You should also visit her site, IgnitePurposeNow.Com for more thoughts and inspiration. (@monica_moody on Twitter)
So there you have it, friends…my #FollowFriday for May 14, 2010.
